Happy Saturday morning, TWFFriends!
I awoke to several inches of freshly fallen snow after yesterday's big storm.
Despite the weather, I still made it to the concert hall to hear the Cleveland Orchestra perform the Mahler 9th symphony, which was sublime.
Hope all the rest of you are warm and cozy!

Good morning.

That sounds wonderful, Mel.

I had a horrible Saturday, mostly spent in the bathroom. I got a stomach bug of some kind, and called in sick to the library for the first time. Feeling much better now. Will spend today relaxing and trying to eat and drink.

Friday's concert was certainly better than Friday's weather... although fortunately that's improved. There's a lot of snow here, but the sun is shining.

Poor Ranja.... :( The stomach bug always makes the rounds this time of year. I'm sorry it caught you in its clutches. Feel better soon!

Hope the recovery is swift, stomach maladies are the worst.

Good morning.

Hope you're feeling better now, Ranja. Image

I'm feeling a bit discombobulated, after an extremely intense weekend of live music and social activity (stayed out way too late two nights running, saw 12 bands, saw manymany friends, had slightly awkward chance meeting with Marc Ribot while walking out of the restroom, was anxious about catching the flu everyone seems to have while being handshake-introduced to a jillion people and receiving three running high-fives). I remembered suddenly at 6PM Sunday that Monday is a holiday and I don't have to go to work. I can't even explain the relief! But ever since then I've been feeling sort of confused and not knowing what to do with myself. I (temporarily) solved this problem by listening to music till 3:30AM... I mean, what else are you going to do with an unexpectedly not-getting-up-early-tomorrow evening?

Thanks for the sympathy, friends.

They really are. I'm glad it's been years since my last one.

Our flat has its pros and cons when it comes to stomach bugs.

On the minus side: my bed is high up, so I need to climb a ladder to get into and out of it. This is very impractical when I'm sick, and especially so when I need to reach the bathroom in a hurry.

On the plus side: the bathroom is so tiny that when sitting on the toilet you can puke in the sink (and take a shower!) at the same time.

As our famous footballer Johan Cruyff once said: "Every disadvantage has its advantages." Hope you feel better soon!

It's blowing like crazy out there today, made for an interesting bike ride (or was it flight) to work...

Good morning.

We had a pretty bad storm here too this week. The window of my son's room broke.

Good luck weathering the stormy weather! This side of the pond we're hearing of snow in New Orleans & across the south. Very bizarre. Up here in the north the cold has left us , the sun is shining and we'll actually melt some snow for a few days anyway. The world is upside down.

Good morning, dear friends.

Since we last met, I've had the privilege to see Edinburgh after working-hours, in the dark, through rain and snow.
Great city.

Gotta go back later this year with the kids. See it in daytime as well.

Oh, and yesterday kid B turned 15.

See ya!
