So here's the result of my experiment with playing all the sounds on my Epiphone Resonator. I'm not sure it's completely successful. A little thin maybe, could use some bass. And as usual I can't resist putting all sorts of vocal and instrumental harmonizing on there (with some welcome help from my colleague's daughter), so in the end it might be a little pointless. I should sometimes listen to the voice saying, "less is more"...

The title "Pappa jag vill åka en gång till" translates as "Daddy, I want to ride it one more time". While this might sound a bit dirty in English there are no such double meanings in the Swedish language. It's simply a child whining when the fun is over. And a symbol for wanting to live your life again. Anyway, it's the usual Mikalebrug depressing lyrics dealing with the last day of your life, or the end of the world if you prefer.. :P

It's the very last day
after your very last night
it's the very last time
you yell at your cat

Savour emptying the dishwasher
and tying your shoes
this day is much shorter than you think

The lights are going out
the carousels have stopped spinning
Daddy, I want to go one more time

You'll get no more cotton candy
no matter how much you want it
Daddy, I want to go one more time

You'll the neighbor's babbling
and the neighbor's ugly dog
If you could do your root canal one more time
you would enjoy every minute of it

Look at that spot on the wallpaper
How long has that been there?
It looks like someone whose name you've forgotten
but you remember being in love

The lights are going out
the carousels have stopped spinning
Daddy, I want to go one more time

You'll get no more cotton candy
no matter how much you want it
Daddy, I want to go one more time

Nice lyrics. I'm at work as ballot officer, so I can't listen at the moment. (So, if I did play this, how would it influence the voters, that's the question of the day.)

I suppose if I listen I'll hear the lyrics in Swedish?

Yes, I should have explained - this is a translation

Nice work, as usual. Your recordings are always so well done. Some sounds though, I'm not sure if they are the guitar or a vocal. How many of the different sounds are the guitar?

I think the only sound made on the guitar that doesn't sound like a guitar is in the refrain. When it starts there's a sound in the right channel, and slightly later in the left channel that sounds like a choir or a space organ. It's actually me, playing the upper register of the guitar mandolin tremolo style, then running that sound through a filter called "sitar". I don't know what the hell that filter does, but I liked the psychedelic sound. :D

I think that's the one. I thought it might be a voice run trough a filter. You do all that at home? The guitar sounds good, real loose like it's tuned down low. Is it an open tuning?

Yes, I do it all at my desk. Garageband is wonderful. The guitar is tuned to open D.

Duet with my son, playing 'Gabriel's Oboe' by E. Morricone.

Nice job, Stefan & Son!
Lukas has grown so much. I'm impressed that he's playing the oboe: one of my favorite instruments.

He's turning 10 years old next week.

Absolutely. And I think for him also. The hug he gave me after seeing this clip... [hug] [hug]

Having trouble with the bass track on a new recording. So I ask myself: "What would Kim Deal do?" There. Much better.
