If you haven't seen the following speech by Leonard : make sure you do. It's a little over 10 minutes. You have to listen to his complete story.

I was speechles, by it :

Glad I took the time to watch that-- what a sad and beautiful story. Thanks for sharing, stefan.

I wrote this on FB about it.

It's even more to me then just being a gentleman. Been thinking about it for days. At the end of his life, he went step by step back, to find out where it began. Where the person he is, and the life he has, started. And it is with a spanish writer, and this spanish guitarplayer. So there he stands accepting an award for an art that was only possible thanks to the people who are now thanking him. Loved it how he says, "thank you for letting me put my signature under your art. " .

Did any of you did such an excercise ? Thinking back where it all started... Who you are ? what you do ?
I did. And it all leads back for me to a conversation I had at age 16 with my neighbour. Whithout that talk, I wouldn't know any of you, I wouldn't do the job I do now, I wouldn't know my wife, and I wouldn't have the children I have right now. It's powerful to think about such things. How a little moment in your life, turns out to have such a huge influence on your life. It determined my life. And I thank my life to my neighbour.

I didn't see that on Facebook, so I'm glad you posted it here. Very interesting. And powerful. I'll think about it with regards to my life ... And I'll try to watch that video in the course of the weekend.

Announced a new album out this Fall called You Want it Darker.

Now 3/4 of my favourite musicians have put out something new this year. (Bowie and Nick Cave respectively) If only that other guy could get something going too

Devastated. One of my idols.

Want to write something about what he meant to me but that's too much at the moment. Now is the time to listen and mourn.

"Now I bid you farewell I don't know when I'll be back/ but they're moving us tomorrow to that tower down the track/ but I'll be speaking to you baby long after I'm gone/I'll be speaking to you sweetly from my window in the tower of song."

I think it's fair to say he's earned his place above Hank Williams surely.

I tell myself he was 82, had a great long life, he had been dropping hints over the last few months regarding his deteriorating health so it was really no shock.......but what can I say I'm still sad, he's the best live act I've ever seen, a presence and charisma like no other (not to mention charm) and his songs have been of great comfort for me for the last 20 years.........

This is his last interview from a few weeks back, as humble, witty, charming and wonderful as ever, a truly beautiful soul
