Absolutely brilliant!

It takes effort for me to thoroughly enjoy difficult modern classical music. I've seen Ensemble Modern a few times and struggled to get it.
Zappa's orchestral work is no walk in the park, by any means, but Friday night the stars aligned.
The orchestra was magnificent, Dweezil was magnificent, and the atmosphere was one of... it's hard to explain. There was an air of anticipation, expectation. Everyone seemed to want this to work, to be magical, and it was.
Not sure I have ever cried at a classical concert before, but when they played Watermelon in Easter Hay - in my opinion Frank Zappa's most intimate and beautiful guitar solo - shit just started rolling down my face. It was so tender! So beautiful! So very, very, I-never-got-to-see-FZ-live-but-this-certainly-makes-up-for-some-of-the-pain.

An unforgettable night.

(And I got to meet DZ afterwards which was very, very cool. What a guy!)

Had a feel you were there when I read this mornings review in my newspaper.
("Highpoint of the evening his solo in Watermelon in Easter Hay.")

Saw Jim White yesterday.
Lots of storytelling. Even though his latest isn't his best album, it was a good concert from a 'weird folksinger who can't play guitar' (as he described himself)

Went with my youngest daughter to see Maria Mena in Paradiso.
Linde is a big fan, and I must say I enjoy Mena's voice and songs a lot myself as well.
Totally sold out, completely packed-to-the-rafters Paradiso.
Quiet, attentive audience, great atmosphere, and fabulous concert.

Nothing quite like the Paradiso, when it's packed.

Linde had her mind firmly blown. The beginning of a beautiful friendship, Linde and Paradiso.
