Roman Holiday, love that one!

A Jarmusch double, at long last.

Very sceptical with the vampyre flick tbh, but it turned out to be a hit. Should have trusted Mr Jarmusch as he came up with loads of great stuff in this - not least with the role of music, some serious rock 'n' roll in there, nice! Spoiler alert: Hamlet was in fact not written by Shakespeare! Tilda Swinton ❤

As for Paterson, it's a very warm film with not much happening in it. Couldn't put my finger on it, but the name of the place, Paterson, sounded familiar - and finally it dawned to me. Yes, it's the birthplace of one Allen Ginsberg. As for the film, poetry plays a major role in it through Carlos William Carlos, no, sorry, William Carlos Williams, heh. Lovely everyday life saluting kind of flick, goes highly recommended.

We sat and took in Ghost in the shell last night, in comfy seats I might add, but anyway.. much better than I expected it to be actually. Though a simplified story with ambiguity removed to limit thought. I had no problem with the actors cast in the roles. The guy playing Aramaki was particularly good, stealing all scenes he was featured in.

I thought that one would be fun in a theater^^^

Saw The "live-action" Beauty and the Beast with my daughters, it was well done, of course, particularly with the sets and costumes, but hasn't everyone seen the animated one 1,000 times? It is difficult to see a familar story/characters without mentally comparing everything with the previous version.
Good fun, still. Loved the special effects on the Big Screen. Gaston is so El Macho, the Beast is so rough! Hermione as Belle was weird, but we all grow up, I guess.
Anyway, 4/5, for the kids, and 2/5 for me, with an extra 1-1/2 for the theater with the reclining seats, and a dinner/drinks menu with seat service. :notworthy:

Tom of Finland - is it art or is it porn?

Well, at least both the film and the documentary shed light to the artist behind the drawings. Doc is from the early 90's and I wanted to see it again as a companion to the new film. Tom of Finland's life is very much a story well worth telling and luckily the film starts making rounds around the World soon.

Art? Porn? A bit of both I suppose. At least the arty side is appreciated these days, so much so that Tom found his way to local stamps a few years ago.

Anyone been watching the new series of Twin Peaks? I'm always skeptical of TV revivals, especially when they're decades past their last episode. However, this has been absolutely fantastic so far. Just enough like the old show without alienating it from the earlier seasons but still confidently it's own thing. (Having Lynch direct all 18 episodes certainly doesn't hurt.)

Feel like it would appeal more to fans of David Lynch than fans of just Twin Peaks, fortunately I'm both.

Loving the new Twin Peaks so far. It's more like Lynch's movies that the original series, which is just fine with me!

I was way behind on watching Twin Peaks. I just watched the first two seasons a few months ago and LOVED them! With that being said, I've seen the first 4 episodes of the new season and I'm a bit torn. A few things bug me about it. I'd like to see a few more episodes before I decide how I feel... I will say I don't think I've seen any of his other work though.

*Potential Spoilers Below*

The violence, to me, seems gratuitous and forced. Remember the build up to Leland's big violent scene? That was excellent. The new season seems kind of a "Hey we're on a premium channel, it's 2017, let's really go nuts!"
The same for nudity. I like boobs. But they've just kind of been unnecessary. Also, it's just way more serious and I enjoyed the overall lighthearted tone of the older seasonns. I'm not saying I don't care for the new season. I'm just not in love with it yet. Give me a few more episodes though and I'll probably fall in line ;)

As we have drifted into TV a little... I watched the first episode of the new Fargo season. So far, forgettable. The comedy accents are wearing thin, and none of these characters are grabbing me. Even the gratuitous butt shot was not enough..

I loved it! The sound is awesome, the venue spectacular! Felt like an instant time travel back Royal Albert Hall (also not a very shabby venue, to be honest).
Very happy they decided to show this on the big screen. And that they picked the biggest screen in the cinema in Haarlem to do it. The audience went for it. Singing along, clapping, throwing in a woohoo here and there. Great!

My favourite guitar player on the planet. When he plays, my knees go weak.
