Age should not be a free ticket to give mediocre shows...

Neil Young does fabulous shows, Leonard Cohen does brilliant shows, I've seen Rufus Thomas make bends Jagger can only be jealous of and at that time Thomas was already of respectful age...

Granted, Madonna does playback mainly...

ive never seen any of those people live, but i doubt leonard cohen, while a fabulous singer, was working a stage any better than mick jagger.cohen is a sit down and apperciate concert, jagger is a rock n roll show trying to keep the energy and crowd up for 2 hours, its a different animal

Age is no excuse for mediocrity.

I agree with Rudi (apart from the Rufus Thomas thing, I don't even know who he is): age does not play a role.

The Stones of the sixties and early seventies are a thing of the past I'm afraid, now it's no more then a (lucrative) brand name... But, what the heck, if you've written songs like Sympathy for the Devil you may do whatever you want as far as I'm concerned...

Age is no excuse for mediocrity. But still, it's understandable and very normal that artists don't jump around quite as much on the stage when they're 45 as they did when they were 20. But the way I see it, it's the intensity and the presence that matters, and that has nothing to do with age.

Have to speak up for the oldies here,Leonard Cohen is the best performer ive ever seen,no contest, and Dylan,Cash and our own Tom have made music just as brilliant in their 50s and 60s(and beyond)as in their youth

As for The Stones, their great(their The fucking Stones!)but theyre a bunch of greedy, money grabbing bastards nowadays,i really dont understand that kind of attitude to money at all, they must be worth over 100 million quid each, why charge 100 Euro for the shittiest ticket in a stadium?? what do they do with it all?? i refuse to see them for that price......im sure theyll cope with that

Right back at ya

Id love to see The Stones but i just cant pay a 100 quid for "the privilege" of seeing them from a mile back, which is what they wanted when they played here a few years ago, everyone i know whos seen them says its just two hours of Mick dancing round like a prick, not a hope Mick

I remember when they came to town with Peter Tosh opening. Probably should have gone, maybe the only time i considered it but it was really mostly for Tosh. Nothing really against the Stones. I guess I'm not a stadium concert sort. Anyway, got to see Tosh on his own a couple times later in a better venue so I'm good. i DO KINDA WISH i'D SEEN THE sTONES GET BOOED OFFA THE STAGE AT dANCLAND SKATE PARk at the old excelsior amusment park. But i was only 8 at the time.
