George Best, most gifted footballer the game has ever seen
One of his quotes:

Yeah RIP Georgie - had a poster on my bedroom wall as a (very) young girl - he was one of my heart-throbs (David Soul being another  ).

Never was into football but appreciate his absolute worth there. To me he will always be the Irish hellraising superstar who died from one of the worst terminal illnesses there is: alcoholism.

Wasn't he also the Beatles original drummer?!?

I was completely unaware he went on to have a successful career in professional sports!

facetiously,

"How close to the match start have you had sex?"
- I once scored at halftime

"He can't shoot with his left foot, he can't header, he can't tackle, and he doesn't score many goals. Otherwise he's quite alright..." (Best's evaluation of Beckham).

I think it wasn't George, but his brother Peat "the bog" Best who was the original drummer for the Beatles. Ironical that Beckham was the original Spice Girl's drummer. Maybe it is the samba bands that make Brasil so good at football.

Alright guys cut the crap, Best was called "the 5th Beatle" because of his popstatus in the swinging 60s. He's from Northern Ireland and no relation to Pete Best the original drummer from Liverpool.
Ok I know you were joking...

I fail to see why this man was so admired, than again, I can't understand why sportsmen are admired at all (apart from there sportive achievements that is...)

I mean look at Beckham, I know this dude because he married Plastic Spice...because he models clothes...because he has affaires with women he isn't married to...

Too bad the man died...

Well Ru.. I'm no football fan but I've been talking a bit to people who are and they all seem to agree that George Best was at least in the top 5 ever footie players. So, hats off to that..

(still, he did abuse the women in his life.. not going to really defend him too much but I think alcohol had something to do with that.. and there must have been reasons for that alcoholism).

As a footballer George Best was unique. Probably the best the game has ever seen.
I have really enjoyed the old films on BBC during the weekend. Like the one where he elegantly passes the two last Arsenal defenders, goes for goal, stops and waits for the defeners to catch up and then passes them again and scores. Just because he could.

Or another where you see Best standing still, ball at his feet, waving 'come and get me' to a petrified defender who simply backs off...
Absolute class.

My new liver will never beat the record of the first.

Day after day, alone on the hill
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still
But nobody wants to know him
They can see that he's just a fool
As he never gives an answer
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning around

Well on the way, head in a cloud
The man of a thousand voices talking perfectly loud
But nobody ever hears him
Or the sound he appears to make
And he never seems to notice
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning around

And nobody seems to like him
They can tell what he wants to do
And he never shows his feelings
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning around

He never listen to them
He knows that they're the fools
They don't like him
The fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning around

One of the funniest motherfuckers, ever... A comedy giant who paved the fucking way for Eddie Murphy and Chris fucking Rock, et al. He possesed a conversational style of humour that was raw and fucking honest. His films with Gene Wilder are fucking masterpieces of comic fucking timing.

Besides his many addictions, and triple-bypass surgery, Pryor had battled with Multiple Sclerosis for nearly twenty fucking years before succumbing to a severe case of death on the morning of December 12...

See ya, Jo Jo Dancer. You crazy motherfucking sonofabitch... you are missed.

profanely,
