From the Rain Dogs List:
Quote:
Dear Dogs,

Some updates about the TWL. The Dutchdogs are busy to get the Tom Waits Library on line again. We hope to do that in 2013 asap. We have one problem that we ask your assitance for. The domain name Tomwaitslibrary.com is being used now by someone using the name Tom Christensen, from New Jersey. Does anyone know this person or do we have to call in the Jersey Devil.... We would like to have this domain back for the website. If that doesn't succeed we have the other domains TWL.org and TWL.net that was bought by a dear friend.
Please let us know if you know about this person, or perhaps this person is o none of our lists.

Thanks!

Kees Lau

Met Kees at Harry's party yesterday.

All 1200 pages of the Library have to be copied and pasted (with all the notes etc)
Big job. He asked some companies ... $$ :!:
Still things going on, plan B might be to ask volunteers, so don't book your holidays yet

I emailed Kees Lau a few weeks back and he very kindly replied.

Unfortunately, it doesn't sound as though any progress has been made in getting the site up and running again.

As I understand it, he said the library needs to continue as a collaborative effort, where more people can edit the site. He didn't explain why that needs to happen, but considerable costs would be involved in moving the site to a content management system which would make it possible.

As he wants more people involved, I asked if he had considered reaching out to the Waits community at this stage. I'm sure there are plenty of people who could help, web designers and people willing to help fund it if necessary. He didn't respond to that suggestion.

New developments ...
A bunch of Dutch dogs are getting together January 13th ...
Kees has been working behind the scenes. Found a company who would tranfer all the files to a more modern website.
For waaaay less money as before. A crowd funding might be the next step.
Rumours have it the original librarian might attend ... :!:
Will keep y'all posted.

I mentioned your name again Jeremy ...

We working on it. Pieter brought his archives to Kees. Two big boxes. He explained why he stopped.
He was playing Waits everyday, at home, in the car. The Library was a daytime job.
People connecting him. Checking interviews, seeing the same quotes, the same jokes ... copyright worries.
He went so deep that it backfired. Bad As Me is still in the package ... "What a ride ..."

He gave Fabian 2 nice Corbijn prints ...
